Rolex Datejust 41 126300 Stainless Steel – Navy Blue Sunray Dial
By |Categories: Datejust|Last Updated: October 27, 2026|

Rolex makes the Datejust in four current sizes: 41mm, 36mm, 31mm and the 28mm Lady-Datejust, with 26mm found on older ladies’ models. As a rule of thumb, the 36mm suits most wrists from about 15 to 18cm, the 41mm suits wrists from about 17cm upward, the 31mm suits slim wrists of about 14 to 16cm, and the 26mm and 28mm Lady-Datejust suit petite wrists. This guide explains each size, how to measure your wrist and how to choose.

Datejust 41: the modern choice

The Datejust 41 arrived in 2016 and is the largest Datejust in the current range. References include the smooth-bezel steel 126300, the white gold fluted-bezel 126334 and the two-tone 126333 and 126331. Before it, the Datejust II (ref. 116300 family, 2009–2016) was Rolex’s first 41mm Datejust, with a broader bezel and bolder markers; it is often very good value pre-owned. Browse the Datejust 41 collection or compare the Datejust II 116300 with the Datejust 41 126300.

The 36mm Datejust is the size Rolex launched in 1945, and it remains the most versatile. Its proportions work on a wide range of wrists, which is why it is worn by both men and women. You will find it across every era, from the vintage 1601 through the 16233 and 116233 to the current 126200 and 126233. Because so many references exist, the 36mm also offers the widest price range in the pre-owned market. See our Datejust 36 watches.

Datejust 31: the midsize

Long known as the “midsize” Datejust, the 31mm sits between the Lady-Datejust and the 36mm. It is a popular women’s size for buyers who want more presence than a 26mm or 28mm watch, and it also suits men with slim wrists who prefer a vintage-sized watch. Shop the Datejust 31, for example the 178240 with pale pink dial.

Lady-Datejust 26mm and 28mm

The 26mm Lady-Datejust was Rolex’s women’s Datejust for decades, in references such as the 69173, 79173 and 179173. In 2015 Rolex moved the Lady-Datejust to 28mm (the 279 references), giving it a slightly more contemporary look while keeping its elegant proportions. Both sizes come in steel, two-tone, full gold and diamond-set versions. Browse the Lady-Datejust collection.

What about 34mm Rolex models?

You may also see older 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual models on the pre-owned market. They wear between a Datejust 31 and a Datejust 36 and suit buyers who find the 36mm slightly large but want more presence than a midsize. Because 34mm is not a current Datejust size, check the exact reference and model name carefully on any listing, and ask the seller to confirm the case diameter.

How to measure your wrist

Wrap a soft tape measure, or a strip of paper you then measure against a ruler, around your wrist just above the wrist bone, where you would wear the watch. Note the measurement in centimetres. Most people wear a Rolex bracelet with about 0.5 to 1cm of room so it can move slightly without sliding over the hand.

Every listing on our site includes the bracelet’s internal circumference where known. Compare that figure with your wrist measurement to see whether the watch fits as is, or whether links would need to be added or removed. For example, our two Datejust 31 two-tone listings differ mainly by bracelet: one is 15.5cm for slim wrists and one is 18cm for average wrists.

Tips for choosing between two sizes

  • Look at lug-to-lug width, not just diameter. A watch that overhangs the edges of your wrist will look too big, whatever the diameter.
  • Dial colour changes perceived size. White, silver and champagne dials look larger than black, blue or slate.
  • Bezel matters. A fluted gold bezel catches light and makes a watch look bigger than a smooth steel bezel.
  • Think about how you will wear it. Under a shirt cuff, a 36mm sits more comfortably than a 41mm.

What size Rolex Datejust is best for men?

Most men choose the 36mm or 41mm. The 36mm suits wrists up to about 18cm and has a classic look; the 41mm suits larger wrists or a more modern style.

What size Rolex Datejust is best for women?

The 28mm Lady-Datejust and the 31mm are the most popular women’s sizes. Many women also wear the 36mm for a bolder, unisex look.

Is the Datejust 36 too small for a man?

No. The 36mm was the standard men’s Datejust for most of its history, and it remains a popular men’s choice, particularly for wrists under about 18cm.

Can a Rolex bracelet be resized?

Yes. Links can be added or removed by a watchmaker. Availability of extra links varies for older bracelets, so check the listed internal circumference before you buy.
